Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

private information disclosure

2 questions-my neighbor has falsely accused me of staeling her mail. the criminal charges were dismissed 2 times at magistrate court. I heard the state policeman tell her he will give her a copy of the summons. This summons has my name,social security number,date of birth and drivers license number listed. Is this allowed that she can have all of my personal information. the second question is-can i now sue her from slander and defamation of character.

Re: private information disclosure

Lawsuits are expensive but you can sue anyone for anything. The question is whether or not you can win and that always depends on the facts.

As far as your social security number, date of birth and drivers license numbers, that's an area of increasing concern with the internet. Pennsylvania has not taken the steps necessary to protect peoples' privacy and that has become frightening.

As far as your immediate problem, I suggest that you may want to contact a Sergeant or other Officer at the State Police and explain the situation to see if they are wiling to help.
