Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Pro Bono help??

I am accused of a crime and Im poor. The Public defender office in the county I live is grossly under funded and under staffed ( intentionaly?) and has come under fire from both the

National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the ACLU for not being up to standers and for there lack of follow up on witnesses, evidences and other important things needed to defend a client Why is it so hard to find an attorney that will take a criminal case pro bono? I dont want convicted of a crime i didnt commit

Your question is...Why is it so hard to find an attorney to work for free?

You may not believe it, but it's very hard work to defend someone against a criminal charge. While very few other professions are expected to work for free, lawyers do a great deal of free or reduced fee work.

You didn't say what you were charged with or what the evidence is against you. Write and let me know and I'll let you know what is possible to do pro bono, and what will require a fee.
