Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Purgery?

1 year ago, i made a statement to police while intoxicated. I later found out the statement i made was false, it was a case of mistakin identity, which i was not mad aware of until weeks later. I recently made the police aware that i was wrong in my statement, but i was unaware of it at the time. Is this considered Purgery? and if so, what consequences could i face?

Re: Purgery?

Usually there's nothing to worry about. If they prosecuted everyone that was drunk who made a mistake about identity, they wouldn't have anything else to do.

Re: Purgery?

No it's not perjury. Perjury is a false statement made UNDER OATH. What you did was make a FALSE STATEMENT TO LAW ENFORCEMENT, which is a different crime.

What I'm not understanding is....if you found out that your statement was false just a few weeks after you made it, why did you wait a year to correct it??
