Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

reading personal email

I was asked by my ex girlfriend to create an email account for her. So I did. I created her username, and password. She never changed the password. Is it illegal for me to read the emails in the account that I created. Please help me, nobody seems to be able to.

Re: reading personal email

If the e-mail was addressed to her then it is not legal. You are intercepting private communications. Just because you are able to access the e-mail doesn't mean that you have a right to access it anymore than having a letter opener gives you the right to open mail addressed to another.
