Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

restraining orders

I have a restraining order on an ex-boyfriend. He has violated the order countless times. Every time he calls my cell phone or house phoneI call the police to report it and nothing ever seems to get done about it. Most recently he showed up at my house and he seems to be getting bolder and taking more aggressive actions to make contact. What are the consequences if a person keeps violating an restraing order? Shouldn't the punishment for each addtional violations be more stringent? Is there something else I can do or is there something else the police should be doing to protect my safety? I feel the police have not done enough to protect me. It is becoming a harsh burden on me because he is interfering with my home, work and social life to the point I am scared for not only my well being but those around me.

Re: restraining orders

You should file a Petition for protection from abuse. There are procedures for emergency relief and there are agencies that will assist you in seeking such relief. You should immediately contact your County's Legal Aid Service. I'm unable to post their phone number but it should be easy to find.
