Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

restroom privacy

As of this note, i was recently arrested and charged with robbery for an incident on 08-27-07. It was said that a store employee watched me in a bathroom stall, cutting open merchandise. I was actually utilising the toilet for its intended use. I left the merch. in the store, I then attempted to exit the store when I was jumped by several people. I was able to break free from these people, i asked why they attacked me, they said i stole some merch. and it was in my pocket, i then emptied my pockets and showed them that i did not have the merch. they described. I just want to know if my rights were violated by this person watching me defacating in the restroom stall. I can provide further details if needed. I

Re: restroom privacy

you may or may not have a cause of action against the store. if you lose the criminal case though, your civil matter will be quite limited.

think about it like this. if you are found guilty of the criminal case, who is going to give you any money because they were spying on you?

Re: restroom privacy

If everything is as you describe, you have a cause of action for false imprisonment, assault and battery, and maybe invasion of privacy.

I doubt that criminal charges will be filed against you because that would give you an additional cause of action since the store had no probable cause to file such charges (again, assuming the facts are as you describe).
