Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

sentencing

in 1999 I had 3 D.U.Is, they counted as a half point for sentencing purposes. Now they've changed the D.U.I. laws, I'm being sentenced on a different crime and they're telling me those same D.U.I.s now count as a full point? New laws aren't retroactive are they? Is there a law that will help me?

Re: sentencing

You really need to hire a real good local attorney or to befriend a Public Defender. The 2003 law isn't retroactive but it does treat multiple offenders differently for D.U.I.s after 2003. There is a Constitutional argument in there but you are going to need a good attorney to raise it and argue it.
