Re: shoplifting

A third retail theft is a felony of the third degree with a maximum possible sentence of seven years. A second retail theft is either a misdemeanor of the second degree (under $250 of items) or the first degree (over $250). Misdemeanor Two is a two year max and Midemeanor One is a five year max.

Your sentence will depend on your criminal history, whether you plead or get found guilty, and whatever mitigating and aggravating factors are involved in the case and in your background.

You should certainly hire a lawyer to handle this.
