Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
Shoplifting at 19
I was 19 years old when I was given a par of pants for christmas, and I went to exchange them at a retail store, but they refused since I did not have the recipet and they were going out of business. To make a long story short I got caught exchanging them myself.... now I need to apply for a job that requires a background check at 26. What can I do or do I need to worry.

Well, the problem is that you shouldn't have been convicted of retail theft to begin with. You did not have the intent to commit the crime, in my opinion, and what you did didn't meet the elements of the crime if, in fact, you are accurately telling the story.
Now, you no doubt have a summary offense of retail theft on your record. A summary may or may not show up on a background check.
