Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

My son needs help

My son was arrested a couple of weekw ago on a white collar crime. He's only 20 and has never been arrested before. We went to go see a lawyer who in my opinion was a little incompetent. My cousin said that my son may be eligible for a rehab prgram since he has a clean record and the charge wasn't abusive anything. She also said that he would most likely be able to pay some restitution and do probation time. He's about to do an internship within the next 6 months or so. If they do a background check on him, will that program or charge show up on that check? He did a foolish thing but we're trying to rid this situation in the quickest and best way possible.

Re: My son needs help

Depending upon the type of "white collar crime" and the prosecuting authority (i.e., state or federal), together with the fact that your son has no previous record, he may, indeed, be eligible for a term of probation and/or rehabilitation - possibly even "without verdict," which would mean that he would not have a criminal record. Unfortunately, without knowing the particulars of the situation, I am unable to advise you further on this issue. Please feel free to contact my office at (412) 765-1090 in order to discuss this matter further, or e-mail me directly at [email protected]. Re: My son needs help

Your sons case revolves around a.) what the charges are and b.) if he has confessed to anything.

My recommendation is that he immediately contact and retain an attorney, failure to do so will greatly hurt his defense. As it relates to communicating with the police or the DA's office, tell him not to do so unless he has his attorney present. Remember the POLICE ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS, they want to convict your son!

My office offers flat rates, for additional information please visit my website at www.AlleghenyAttorneys.com or contact my office at 412.731.0865.
