Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

spotlight in window

Our drunken neightbor has set up a bright spotlight on the ground less than 12 feet from our windowand is shinning it into our house. We called the police they did nothing. Now the neightbor has mounted this spotlight up in the air on a telephone pole and it is shinning it in all windows on one side of our house. We can't sleep or watch tv or even see. We have had to purchase blinds and curtains to block this light out. What should we do?

Re: spotlight in window

First, call the owner of the telephone pole and complain. He is trespassing on the utility's property.

Second, your remedy is civil not criminal. He is invading your property with light which is a nuisance in the legal sense. So you could sue him to stop lighting up your property.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
