Stealing and jailing for first time offense
A friend of mine recently got arrested for stealing from a department store and possession of a stolen licence plate. It's his first offense, can he be sent to jail even if it is his first offense, or is there something that can be done to help him stay out? Thank you.

He may be eligible for the ARD program. He would serve a period of probation pay program costs and if he stayed out of trouble for a year he would be eligible to have the arrest expunged. He needs to get an attorney as soon as possible. I offer free consultations.
