Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
Subpoena
My husband had a storage unit in which he stored his 1995 Corvette. Approx. a year ago, his storage unit along with many of the others were broken into by three men. Since there was so much snow on the ground at the time, the only thing that was stolen from his unit was the Corvette's license plate which cost us $36 to replace. Now my husband continues to recieve subpoenas stating he must be present at the trials of these three men. My husband misses work all day which means we lose over $200 when payday arrives. We are told he could ask the company he works for to pay him $7 an hour on the days he has to go to court to testify. However, we have children to support and bills to pay, which even with the $7/hour compensation will leave us short on our bill payments. It really seems foolish to continue to lose money for a measly $36 license plate. Is there any way out of this predicament?

Re: Subpoena
file a motion to quash the subpoena. disobey it and risk a weekend in jail.
