Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
Summary non traffic -Citations
I was cited for the following on my 21st birthday night, when my room mate called the cops with the intent to get me in trouble. I was belligerent drunk.
1) Intent to damage property, negligence.
2) Harassment, intent to provoke.
I pleaded not-guilty to both the charges above. For the first charge I have already had my court date and was given a provisional guilty plea with 20 hours of community service. ( I hope is off my record now).
The second charges court date have been postponed multiple times. I was cited in May 2007, and now I finally have the court date set to Nov 13, 2007. After talking to the lawyer and the cops the case would be dismissed if my room mate was not adamant on showing up in court and standing as a witness.
My question:
1) I lost my summer job as a Conference Assistant at PSU in the process. 2) I am really worried about me getting full-time jobs and Co-ops as every employer talks about background checks. 3) I feel this as the biggest set back in my life, since I have worked really hard in getting into a good school. From being part of organizations to working part-time jobs that pay well. Today, I feel that I stand no chance, because of my background check and a pending charge.

Re: Summary non traffic -Citations
If you completed the community service I think that disposes of the charges as if you were found not guilty. As to the harassment charge it will probably be treated as a summary depending on how belligerent drunk you were and what you did to make your room mate adamant about appearing as a witness.
