Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Superior Court Appeals process

My fiance was sentenced for a crime in september of 07. Post motion sentenced was denied, we have filed an appeal to the superior court. I'm told the DA has 20 days to respond from the date our appeal was due (which was Jan. 25, 2007). After the DA's response is received at the superior court in 20 days, how long til the review? What happens next?

Re: Superior Court Appeals process

You have filed a Notice of Appeal. Assuming that the Notice was timely filed and the issues raised on appeal were properly preserved, the next step is that the Court will issue a briefing schedule. After the Briefs are filed the Court may order oral argument before it renders a decision. This isn't a given, though. Many times cases are decided without oral argument.
