Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Teaching with Misdemeanor Conviction

In 2000, I was convicted of 2 misdemeanor charges (unlawful restraint and reckless endangerment)in the state of Pennsylvania. I've since graduated from college and am attempting to land employment in the education or health care field. What can I do to ''clear'' my record...or am I stuck with these charges for life?

Re: Teaching with Misdemeanor Conviction

Each state has different rules governing how you can clear any criminal charges you have been convicted of in the past. In New Jersey you would have to wait five years to get these charges expunged, and even then it is a fairly lengthy and involved process to do so. In Pennsylvania the laws are probably different. Since your convictions are from Pennsylvania I would suggest that you contact a Pennsylvania lawyer who specializes in criminal defense law to see if you are eligible to apply for an expungement of your record in Pennsylvania.
