Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
theft charges
I stole money from my previous employer and was caught, on the day this was discovered he called me in his office ( my employer is a attorney) when I went in to his office he and another attorney were there, he started to question me about a settlement, I answered the question and he said he thought I was taking money from him, he sent the other attorney to my desk to get my purse and dumped it out on his desk, they both proceeded to search my purse, he sent me out of the room and told me I had to write a statement of what I did and when I took money or he was calling the police, while I was out of the room they went through my purse and made copies of personal things like receipts a couple of lottery tickets and personal notes from my husband. When I came back into the room my boss had money that was in my wallet in his hand and ask if it was my money, I said yes, there was about 126.00,he took $100.00 and threw the 20.00 at me and said I could have it for gas, he then wrote me a receipt stating that he took the $100.00 from me for payent of restitution of theft, now he has pressed charges against me stating that thru and audit he found that I embezelled over 100,000 dollars. Is there anything I can do about these charges?

Re: theft charges
The first thing is to not speak to anyone but a lawyer. Second, you need to get a lawyer to assess the case. Your statement to your employer might be considered coerced and therefore not credible. Also, alternative dispositions may be available. I offer free consultations.

The first thing you should do is talk with a lawyer to go over the evidence against you and to determine your options. You did not indicate what you said in your statement, but that may be important. However, the statement may be subject to challenge.
You should speak with an attorney as soon as possible. Initial consultation with me would be free of charge.
