Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
theft
recently i was terminated by a former employer because he said i stole from his store.
the situation was that i worked at olymipa shop 'n save and we have those fuel perk cards and i repeatedly used mine for little elderly ladies that forgot there's. they would ask me if they could use my card and i said yes. and heres the thing i could not use the card for gas because i have no car to use it for anyways.
so my employer had asked me about this and he fired me. but before he did he forced me to wirte a confession and said if i didnt i would look at monetary losses court and possibly jail time. in this confession i had to write that i was going to pay a 150.00 fine in ten days i forfiet my paycheck and the hours i worked for that week.
he never called the cops and he never filed a report on it either.
what i need to know is that is this extorion, blackmail, or both?
and i also would like to know that what is it in the state of pennsylvania how much, in terms of money, of products or retail items must be lost, i.e $20, minimum that is before i have to pay the theft fine of $150.00.
i also just typed up a letter saying that i rescind said confession and am entitled to my final paycheck, but i didnt send it out yet, should i?

Re: theft
Quite honestly your case does not sound like fraud or theft.....however, it just might be easier and less expensive to move on with your life and career as opposed to fighting for a few hundred dollar paycheck....however, if you do wish to pursue this matter please contact me at 412.731.0865.
