Wants to travel pending charges for marijuana possesion
My nephew was a passenger in a car that was stopped a month ago. He and two others had l/8 oz of marijuana a piece on them. They have not received any formal charges but think they will. He wants to leave on a trip to travel across country. Can he?

Re: Wants to travel pending charges for marijuana possesion
If they haven't been notified of any charges yet they may be OK. The police may have decided not to file. On the other hand, if charges are filed, he may have to return to defend them to avoid having a warrant issued for his arrest.
Lately prosecutors and police seem to be taking a lot of shortcuts in procedure and not coming back to defend if he is out of state could have severe consequences even if he doesn't get formal notice of the charges.
