Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
unlawful gambling
A judge in cloumbia county just made a ruling that texas holdem poker is a game of skill not chance and that it does not fall under unlawful gambling law in PA. My question is that if a judge made this ruling does it mean that any one in PA can freely play or host a texas holdem game? Does his ruling set the standard in PA?

Re: unlawful gambling
It means that in Columbia County, that is the standard. The standard elsewhere is not affected by a county court ruling. A statewide court--Commonwealth, Superior or Supreme Court--would have to rule in order for it to apply statewide.
