Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
Victim of a crime
My boyfriend was brutally beaten by a known subject. He was arrested and spent 5 days in jail. At the preliminary hearing it was continued several times with the DA and his public defender trying to coerce him into dropping the charges since my boyfriend had pending DUI charges. Without notice to my boyfriend as to why all charges were dropped against the assailant. How can they be allowed to do this.

Re: Victim of a crime
It is up to the district attorney's discretion as to whether or not to pursue charges against an individual.
It seems that there is something missing in your story. What does the DUI have to do with the assault? What was the motivation for the assault? Does your boyfriend still have DUI charges?
