Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

A woman and her husband are seperated. She has moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to her son and the husband is located Florida. The husband has a history of making death threats through emails and phone calls. Most recently the husband called his mother in Texas (who he hasn't talked to in years) and told her that he was going to send someone to kill his wife and son.

Is there anything the mother and son can do to protect themselves.

She could file for and obtain a Protection from Abuse Order in Pennsylvania. That's probably her best bet, and have the Order personally served on him in Florida.

I imagine she could also contact the Florida local police and attempt to file charges against him there. It would mean she would probably have to return to Florida to testify, and there might not even be much of a case that would stick unless the husband's mother would also testify against her son (or at least give a candid statement to Florida police during the investigation).

If the woman wishes to discuss her matter in further detail, feel free to have her contact me offline. I wish the best of luck to both her and her son!
