Legal Question in DUI Law in Pennsylvania

field sobriety test

Are police officers who suspect a driver may be impaired allowed to give multiple sobriety tests? I have a sister who is disabled who was taken to a PA police station because they thought she was drunk. They kept giving her field sobriety tests--4 in all- I guess to see if they could get her to fail one. She did not. But is this legal?

Re: field sobriety test

It is legal but she could have refused after taking and passing the first or second one. There might be some risk of arrest and detainment, however.

Re: field sobriety test

Yes, it is. Your sister was not required by law to participate in these field sobriety tests, but there is no law that prohibits the police from asking for her cooperation and participation.
