DUI defense is complicated and your jail time as well as your license suspension period depends strongly on the facts of your case, and what you are charged with. We handle a number of these cases. You should definitely retain counsel to be sure that your penalties are minimized, and if you have to go to trial, that you receive a good defense. If you e-mail me back, I will forward to you a DUI matrix that will help you understand the penalties based upon your specific facts.

I've represented RN's in the past and I haven't been aware of any issue with license renewal. However, if you go to the website for the State Board of Nursing there are numerous suspensions for addiction to alcohol and drugs. I checked briefly to see if there were any that mentioned DUI or driving and I didn't see any. However, it appears that a guilty plea to a misdemeanor under the Drug Act is an automatic suspension. So, if you had some weed with you at the time of the stop, you can expect some problems.
