Dropping Out of High School

Can a person 17 years of age sign themeselves out of High School, in Pennsylvania or do they need a parent signature.

The 17 year old would likely have to petition the court for emancipation. Probably would be easier to stay in school.

Pursuant to 22 Pa Code sec. 11.13,compulsory school age is until the age of 17 or graduation from a high school, whichever occurs first. Accordingly, a 17 year old may withdraw from school.
