Legal Question in Education Law in Pennsylvania

prayer in school?

For the last 3 months, friends and I have been sitting on stairs in school, holding a prayer group, during what is called Flex Block(another name for a Study Hall of sorts). In the last week, the entire thing was called into question by some teachers. They said we needed teacher supervision, and that it was unauthorized by the school otherwise. So we found a teacher willing to keep an eye on us and let us pray in her room. But again the school called it into question, saying that it was "disrupting the sanctity of Flex" and was during school time. What am I allowed or not allowed to do? This has been a huge hassle to a dozen of us, and we are seriously considering legal action of some sort. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: prayer in school?

I suggest you do contact a civil rights attorney locally or perhaps the ACLU (they have a website). Too complicated to address here.
