Re: Guardianship filing jurisdiction rules in Pennsylvania

You asked about guardianship for a person located in another state.

Adults are generally considered to be residents of a state where they reside immediately upon entering the state with the intention of residing there either for an indefinite period or for an extended definite period. In other words If a person travels to a state with no intent to move on then they are a resident as soon as they cross the state line. If a person travels to a state with the later intent to move on then they may or may not have established residency at any point in time.

Filing for guardianship is not a simple thing and should only be done with the assistance of competent legal counsel.

Regards,

Roger
