Legal Question in Elder Law in Pennsylvania
Home Ownership
If you are going into a nursing home or assisted living facility can they force you to sell your home to pay for your health care needs?

Re: Home Ownership
They cannot force you to sell your home if you can otherwise meet the requirements of the contract. However, they may want to ensure that you would not be disqualified from medical assistance and thereby limit their acceptance to those who would otherwise readily qualify.
Your question apparently relates to Pennslyvania law and you should resubmit your question for response by Pa. attorneys. Qualification for Medicaid is set by state law and varies accordingly.
Contact a lawyer in the state where you plan to contract with a nursing home for advice specific to your needs.
