Legal Question in Elder Law in Pennsylvania

Mediation Services

Sibilings are disputing over financial issues for care of aging parent. Parent is in early states of dimencia, is a diabetic, 81 years old and has cancer. Cannot be on his own. Refuses to go into nursing home. Wants to be cared for by daughter in her home. Needs 24/7 care. Daughter is currently caring for him, but is wearing thin emotionally. Needs money to continue care. Parent has money. Afraid to take money from parent's account due to sibling's objection. Need help as soon as possible. Are there any mediation services for this issue in Bucks County, PA?

Re: Mediation Services

You asked about elder law regarding elder care.

There is no question that the parent needs the assistance of an elder law attorney immediately.

In home care is almost always the best option for hospice but a factor that many people fail to consider is employing personnel for full-time care.

This is not offered to redirect you away from hiring an elder law attorney, that is an absolute must. But hiring reputable in-home care 24/7 is much more economical than a convalescent facility and often results in a better environment for all parties.

There is no reason that one sibling should be taking the entire burden of care. The burden should be spread as equitably as possible. And make certain that the sibling wearing thin gets the care she needs. Whether that means therapy or taking a spa vacation, do it.

Roger
