I am very sorry to hear of your mother's diagnosis. Thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I certainly commend her for the forethought and planning by having a power of attorney naming you as her agent. Whether or not you have the authority to make gifts, however, depends on the provisions of the power of attorney. I highly recommend that you review the document with an attorney who practices in this area. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you would like further assistance.
