The easy answer first, the Department of Public Welfare does not include your retirement accounts into your husband's eligibility for Medicaid. As for planning around the cost of long term care and having your spouse qualify for mediaid and sheltering items so they can not be taken should your husband go into a nursing home, that is very complex, including laws regarding transfers between spouses, the look back period for transfers and keeping the most money for you, since you will need funds to continue living in the community. It best to figure these things out sooner than later so you can save the most amount of money.
