Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

If a 13 year old child would go to her school counselor and tell them that her dad had abused her what would happen next if anything? The child is now livening with me her mother and wants noting to do with her dad. She has no proof about what she told the counselor just her words. She also informed the counselor that she would get so upset with her dad she would cut herself. The counselor has seen the fathers temper first hand and had called the police on him herself after seeing him push and grab me in the school parking lot. We live in the state of Pennsylvania

School counselors are required reporters. That is by law when they become aware of child abuse they have to report it. Based on what you say the any potential criminal charges might not stick. However, you will be hearing from Children and Youth if you haven't already.
