Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
My 18 year old daughter is 7 months pregnat by her ex boyfriend who wanted her to have an abortion, and when she couldn't do that,he broke up with her and hasn't been in her life since. He hasn't even told his parents he has conceived a child. My husband and I have been helping my daughter through this, both finacially and emotionally, but we have no ide what should be done as far as medical insurance and any legalalities in regards to this situation. Can my daughter collect child support? I have no idea what to do now and need advice on what our next steps should be from this point on.

Yes can collect child support and she should under the law child support is owed to the child. His only defense is that he is not the father. Once the child is born she should file for child support. It's not expensive about $20 or less. The ex-boyfriend can challenge paternity if he does there will be a paternity test. If he's dad then he pays for the test if he isn't he doesn't.
You might also contact the domestic relations office in your county for the exact costs and procedures. I know in some cases father's can be on the hook for hospital expenses of the birth.
