Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Abuse

This may sound like a strange question at first, but i don't know where to find the answers. I am 17 years old. My girlfriend, who this question is about, is also 17. She is the victim of constant abuse from her parents, mainly her mother. First, the physical part. Her mother will kick her, punch her in the head, pinch her till she bleeds, and beat her with shoes, telephones, anything she can get her hands on, all for supposed ''wrongs'' that aren't even true. All of these leave bruises, sometimes for days. She doesn't want anyone to see, so she hides them or makes up a story. That's not even the worst of it though. The emotional abuse is worse. Her mother constantly tells her she is fat, lazy, stupid, worthless, ''a lazy ungrateful b****,'' and countless other names. I can see how much these hurt... she has no self confidence, no self esteem, and often feels hopeless. Just today, her mother threw all her clothes, which she had just finished washing, out in the snow in 10 degree weather and made her pick them up, and then when she came back in took away her heater and said ''If you want heat, pay for it yourself!'' I don't know what to do. This can't keep going on... it's so wrong, but what can be done????
