Re: alimony mental anguish

If you have been separated for more than two years you should be able to force the matter to a conclusion; though you may not be happy with the conclusion nor with the cost to get to it. File an affidavit stating that you've been separated for two years. One way or another this will lead to a final hearing (there are too many possibilities to outline). It's likely the hearing will be about all your issues, including the alimony. Whether your wife could receive lifetime alimony (it is possible) will depend upon the facts of your particular case and your judge, who has broad discretion under the divorce code. Since your wife is on SSI she must have some sort of disability. Disability can be the basis for long-term post divorce alimony. You have to be careful.
