Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Arrears

I owe $942 in arrears. It accumulated while I was waiting for a support hearing. I have paid every two weeks since my support hearing and have even been paying an extra 35 a pay for the last 2 or 3 pays. When I went in for an arrears conciltation I was not able to make much of a payment. I have worked overtime and have been able to come up with about $500 to pay on it. I have a hearing in front of a judge on sept. 26th. My ex is claiming that the court has contacted her and asked if payments are ok or if she would like me to be put in jail. She is claiming that she told them that she wants me to be put in jail. Does she have the ability to determine my fate? What is the likely hood that I will face jail time?

Re: Arrears

You need to go in before the hearing and pay as much as you can. It shows you are not draging your heals. With a $500 dollar payment you will have paid over half of the arrears and it will be less than $500. You may wish to have a lawyer with you to show that you take this seriously. If you cannot afford one, you may qualify for legal aid.
