aunt temp custesty

can a 17 year old live with her aunt in another state without her parents giving up custaty? she still be attending school and getting a part time job, and her parents will be supporting her financially. her parents are giving her full support and she is only moving because she wants to spend more time with her aunt and could use some change in a boring life. and who would claim her on taxes?

You raise a number of different issues. The general answer is probably yes, given the age. As for the tax exemption, the answer is no. The reasons for the change are grossly inadequate.

If everyone is in agreement, all aunt needs is a Power of Attorney allowing her to make emergency decisions.
