Name change

I am 25 yrs old My parents just got married 7 yrs ago can I legally change my name to my fathers name if my mother gave me he last name at birth?

You can legally change your name to anything you like as long as you are not trying to avoid debts or criminal prosecution. The only other requirement is that you have a first and last name.

It does require petitioning the court to order the name change. You also have to prove to the court you aren't subject to a judgment or have a criminal record. You also have to advertise the name change.
