I lived with a man when my daughter was 2yrs old. whenI moved out a year later the man took me to court for shared parenting this man is not the father of my child and the judge granted him shared parenting. How is this possible. I need some advice.

Re: child custody

I would have to look at the court documents to determine exactly what happened. The courts do look at the best interests of the children, so even if there are no biological ties, an adult who acted as a parent to a child may sue for custody. You could sue for full custody, but would have to show a reason why it is not in the best interest of the child for this person to have custody.
