Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Child Support Changes due to Employment Change

I was divorced in Chester County, PA. My child support order was based on an income formula used by the state. Subsequent to that, I was transferred out of state, to Ohio, but have maintained my child support as ordered. I have now become unemployed (involuntarily) and need to find out how to change the support order. The support is scheduled to expire in June 2001, as ordered in the divorce agreement. Will the new support order be based on my unemployment income, or what? It may be some months until I find employment and a salary equivalent to what I was making prior to losing my job. Please advise. Thank you for your time.

Re: Child Support Changes due to Employment Change

I would immediately contact your local CSEA and relate the change of income. If they insist, you will have to go to the county in which you got the divorce and contact the CSEA in that county.

Good Luck.
