Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
child support increase due to marraige
My fiancee fathered a little girl with a woman who already had a 3 month old son when they were both 17 years old. When they split up years later he continued to care for the boy just like he did with his daughter. Both children are treated equal & any side money for extra things such as sports, he gives for both children, He never adopted his son though so he only pays court ordered child support for his daughter. The children are 9 & 10 & are involved in lots of activities we pay for all sports, pictures, clothes, birthday parties & most other extra type things along with the ordered $200 a wk for support. Needless to say this is already a lot of money that the mother gets. My question is when we get married is she going to be able to go after him for more child support, bc of our now joint incomes? If so is there anything that can be done to stop her having access to more money such as hypenating my last name? It's not that we have a problem with the money going to the children, but we want to control the things bought for the children we don't want her to get anymore money than she already does.

Re: child support increase due to marraige
You asked about keeping child support at the current level.
I appreciate the sentiment behind trying to keep the payments as currents and also your responsibility to assist the children.
You really need to sit down with a local family lawyer to hash out the best plan for you. Hyphenating your name has nothing to do with this.
You may also take this time to update your estate planning documents.
Congratulations,
