Re: child support

This reply relates to Pennsylvania law. I cannot respond to your specific inquiry but can give you an overview of how child support is calculated in Pennsylvania.

In Pennsylvania support calculations are based upon a designated dollar amount of support per child per household at a given income. Income is determined by several factors - once you arrive at the income for each party those amounts are combined. This combined income is then used to determine the support amount owing based upon the Pennsylvania Support Guidelines. The amount is then allocated based upon what percentage of the overall income each party earns - for example, if father earns 3000 net per month and mother earns 2000, the combined amount is $5,000.00. Based upon the guidelines, the overall support amount is $927.00 per month. Father earns 60% of the overall income so his percentage of child support due would be 60% of the designated figure in the support guidelines, or roughly $556.00. Custodial parent is generally presumed to be expending their share of the support amount through maintaining the custodial home. There is a link to the guidelines on my webpage. Re: child support

In NY, and most states the Federal reccommended Child Support Guidelines are in the area of 17% for one child, 25% for two children & 29% for three children, after "allowable" deductions, which varies from states and counties and upon the circumstances of each case.

Therefore, you can expect to be ordered to pay

in the area of $200./mo based upon a reported gross income of $16,800.00; plus your pro rata share of child care costs or other appropriate "add ons."

Good luck,
