Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Child support Representation

My cousin is currently paying child support, but is behind. I am a math major and believe that her support payments were incorrectly figured. In addition, her lawyer was not able to be present at her hearing. The court refused to give her a court appointed attorney. Is this legal? This is the second time this has happened. It seems to to me that something odd is going on. Her lawyer has not shown up twice and my cousin did not know until the last minute? Is there anything she can do?

Re: Child support Representation

If there is an error in calculation is probably due to someone giving them incorrect information. The actual calculation is done by a computer system.

As to her lawyer not showing up. Is it a lawyer you cousin retained or appointed counsel?

An attorney would have been appointed if you cousin met the income guidelines. Otherwise there is nothing that would compel the court to appoint counsel.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
