Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Child Support/Custody
My wife is in a bitter child support battle with her ex-husband. The new support order states that the ''ex'' is to be given a copy of medical cards, coverage booklets and the address to which claims should be sent. The order states that my wife needs to provide this information. The problem is that I provide coverage, not my wife OR her ex-husband. I do not want him to have my personal or employer information, as he has contacted and caused trouble with past employers. Do I have to provide my information? If we do not, her ex-husband is threatening to file another contempt against her for not obeying the support order.
What is your advise?

Re: Child Support/Custody
Unfortunately you married into a bitter dispute. Your wife must obey the Court Order. If the order is clear then your refusal will put her at risk for additional litigation and potential contempt sanctions. I suppose she could decline to provide the information based on your refusal; then hope that your testimony at a contempt hearing will prompt the Judge or Hearing Officer to modify the order. You will need clear evidence that this person contacted your employers in the past. This will be presented in her response to the contempt motion which response should also request a hearing. Of course the history of the dispute is important because we end up finally watching the dyspeptic expression of a grumpy judge who is looking at the file.
