Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Hello,

This one is complicated. I was married to a girl in New York state. We were together for about a year and a half and had a child together. When we split the state granted full custody to me and I moved to Pennsylvania with my son. I, however, never got divorced. We have been apart for over 7 years now and she recently passed away. During those 7 years she never paid her child support and never really held a job for any amount of time.

My question is will I be held accountable for any of her past bills, final hospital costs or funeral costs? Like I said, it has been 7 years and I dont even know this girl anymore. In those 7 years she hardly ever saw her son and the rare occasions she did it was because I let her parents see him. Thanks for your help!

Probably not you would be only responsible for those bills for debts that have your name on them. All other bills are the responsibility of her estate.
