Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Contempt for arrears of child support

I have 4 child support orders that are 13 years old, I owe around $3,000 in arrears from being unemployed several times in the last 13 years. I have been paying current child support with a small amount towards arrears with no missed pmts for the last 3 years, I have been ordered to go to crt for comtempt because my sons mother wants the arrears in full. my Q: Can I be held in willful contempt if I have been paying via wage garnishment for the last 3 yrs just because she wants the arrears paid in full NOW? Help!

Re: Contempt for arrears of child support

If the court believes that you honestly can not make the payments the court is not going to hold you in contempt. If the court finds that you can make payment then you will be held in contempt and can be fined or jailed.
