Can I ask for a continuance myself the day of my hearing?

Its best to make the motion for continuance prior to the hearing. First, most courts require that your motion state whether the opposing counsel opposes or concurs with your motion.

Second, if your there to ask for a continuance the court might be less than thrilled and proceed with the hearing.
