Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

custody

My boyfriend and I have two children and will be splitting up. We have agreed that I can take the kids back to MN where I'm from and he'll take summers. Do we have to go through a whole custody conference or can we submit our agreement in writing to be filed with the court house?

Re: custody

There should be a custody action filed. You can then submit a Stipulation to be entered as an Order of Court. This should be done prior to relocating to another state.

If you would like assistance in preparing these important documents, please contact me. It would not be expenseive and may save you a great deal of problems in the future.

You can absolutely enter an amicable agreement and request that it be adopted as an order of court. You can each have the agreement reviewed by an attorney for each of you or go one attorney, so that the form of the petition is correct, for mediation.

As an attorney who has seen the ill effects of tumultous family spilts on kids, congratulations to both of you in this difficult time for putting your children first.
