custody

what does a father has to prove to be awarded personal custody

Re: custody

I will assume you mean primary physical custody.

Either parent would have to show that it is in the best interest of the child that they be awarded custody.

That said if you do not currently have custody its you will also have to show that its in the best interest of the child to change custody. A much tougher case to make.
