Re: Custody of 16 year old and support

You asked about separation from your husband.

During a separation there generally is no support unless it is agreed to by the parties or is ordered by a court. You should seek legal advice immediately.

A separation can set the stage for a later custody agreement/order and distribution of assets. There is no set formula but there is a range. The goal is to provide for the needs and care of the minor children. Child support is not an award to the parent but is an award for the benefit of the child(ren). Alimony or spousal support is also available both before and after divorce but must also be applied for with the court who will evaluate the situation and make a determination.

As I said, you need to speak with an attorney who can become familiar with your situation.
